Preliminary Task - Magazine Cover Ideas

This layout shows the masthead split in two along the top left and the bottom right. This makes the magazine different however it does not look great as people may get confused by the title of the magazine. I think the masthead should be together. The image is a midshot which is classic for front covers which is the same for the other two designs as this is a definate feature I will be including in my preliminary task magazine front cover. The cover lines and images are spread around the top of the page to attract the attention of customers and there is also a barcode so it can be scanned.



This design has the masthead at the top which is unconventional to make it stand out. The cover storys are down the right hand side of the page along with the main cover story. The main image dominates the page and the barcode is in the top left hand corner.



This magazine again has the main image dominating the page but this time it is more conventional, the masthead is placed at the top of the page and the majority of cover lines are on the left. The barcode is in the bottom left corner also.

Christopher Maurice Brown (born May 5, 1989) is an American recording artist and actor. He made his recording debut in late 2005 with the self-titled album Chris Brown at the age of 16. Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. (born September 27, 1982), better known by his stage name Lil Wayne, is an American rapper. At age of nine, Lil Wayne joined Cash Money Records as the youngest member of the label, and half of the duo, The B.G.'z, with B.G.. In 1997, Lil Wayne joined the group Hot Boys, which also included rappers Juvenile, B.G., and Turk. Hot Boys debuted with Get It How U Live! that year. Lil Wayne gained most of his success with the group's major selling album Guerrilla Warfare, released in 1999. Also in 1999, Lil Wayne released his Platinum debut album Tha Block Is Hot, selling over one million copies in the U.S.

Marshall Bruce Mathers III (born October 17, 1972), better known by his stage name Eminem, is an American rapper, record producer, and actor. Eminem quickly gained popularity in 1999 with his major-label debut album, The Slim Shady LP, which won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. The following album, The Marshall Mathers LP, became the fastest-selling solo album in United States history. It brought Eminem increased popularity, including his own record label, Shady Records, and brought his group project, D12, to mainstream recognition.

My name is Tom Meek and this is my AS Media blog which will contain the media coursework I produce. The main part of the coursework is to design and create a front cover, contents page and double page spread of our own magazine. The blog will display the progress and each piece of work involved in this coursework and it will be focused on the genre of R&B/Hip-Hop and Dance Music.
